PIREP: Ancient La Paz Fire Station

La Rinconada Town Hall has undertaken the task of transforming the former Fire Station into the innovative "La Paz" Sports Centre, located at Joaquín Flores Márquez Street No. 4, San José de La Rinconada. This project aims to revitalise an unused building and convert it into a multifunctional space focused on sports and community activities.

Located in the La Paz neighbourhood, which currently lacks sports facilities, the centre will serve as a key resource for promoting sports among local residents. With an approximate area of 800 m², the building is strategically situated in a mixed urban environment, surrounded by residential and commercial areas.

The project's objectives are clear:

  • Improve the quality of life for citizens by repurposing existing infrastructure.
  • Create a versatile space that combines sports and community activities.
  • Equip the building with appropriate facilities, including a multi-sport court, a multipurpose room for activities like Pilates and yoga, and complementary areas such as changing rooms, a first aid room, and storage.

The proposed adaptations include the removal of mezzanine levels to optimise space for sports activities, the installation of a concierge desk to manage access, and energy efficiency improvements through a new thermal-acoustic insulated envelope and upgraded HVAC systems.

The total investment for this initiative amounts to €717,726.39, of which 80% has been financed by Next Generation EU Funds. It's worth noting that the VAT, amounting to €124,564.08, has also been fully covered by the Next Generation EU Funds.
